Call for solidarity with Christians in Syria
“How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the one who brings good news, who proclaims peace! Who brings good news, who proclaims salvation! Of the one who says to Zion: your God reigns!” Is 52.7
Christians, persecuted, are fleeing their villages,
Massacred by those who believe only in evil
Those who kill children, women and men
They destroy churches, they wipe away ancient civilisations, thousands of years old
They plunder and destroy everything in their path
Our brothers and sisters are homeless, cold and hungry, they need…EVERYTHING
They carry their Cross joyfully,
They believe the Resurrection is near at hand
They know that their suffering and their Faith bring them to Jesus
We have to clothe them, feed them, keep them warm, care for them, listen to them and above all, we have to love them
It is not enough simply to pray for them.
Our duty as Christians is to be beside them, and say to them
"We are your brothers and sisters, we share your suffering and your pain".
Can we stand by, arms folded, knowing they are naked and hungry?
Can we open our hearts to their suffering?
Can we relieve their suffering?
Lord, I pray to you for all those who weep and
Those whose tears do not flow
Lighten their suffering
Soothe their fear
Bring them PEACE, Love and Light
