Pope Francis 's message for Lent 2018
As Lent 2018 (which begins on February, 14th) approaches, Pope Francis has sent his message to the Catholics on the theme: "Because of the increase of iniquity, the love of many will grow cold" (Mt. 24, 12). He denounces the "false prophets" of this world and "the greed of money" that lead to this "slow extinction of Charity" But faced with this sad fact, Francis recalls that the Church offers during this time of Lent and rise to Easter, the "often bitter medecine of truth, soothing remedy of prayer, almsgiving and fasting". He also talks about the "24 hours for the Lord" initiative, which will take place on March 9 and 10. In all dioceses, at least one church will remain open for twenty-four consecutive hours, offering an opportunity for both Eucharistic adoration and sacramental confession.
