President General visits seven countries in March
During the month of March 2017, the 16th President General, brother Renato Lima de Oliveira, will make official visits to seven Superior Councils: Italy, India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, New Zealand, Australia and Chile. The President General will remain a few days in each nation, and he will be accompanied by other members of the board of the Council General International (CGI).
“If God allows me to do so, I wish to visit as many countries as possible during our mandate, bringing the message of unity, charity and cooperation to all the Vincentians of the world. As the International Rule wisely teaches, the President General represents the union and moral authority of the SSVP, ensuring that the organization grows and develops in all parts of the globe, without distancing itself from its origins. And the President's visits have this objective: to know the reality and the initiatives of each country, directing the necessary support through the international structure of the CGI”, explained brother Renato.
In addition to participating in some events already programmed by the Superior Councils (such as national gatherings or assemblies), the President General wishes to attend one Conference meeting, visit a Vincentian work and a local Council, as well as meet with Vincentians, youth, members of the clergy and representatives of the Vincentian Family.
The Council General thanks the Superior Councils that are collaborating generously in the organization of these visits. Let us pray that these visits will go well, according to God’s will and in favor of the people in need assisted by SSVP worldwide.
