In spite of the conflict, the SSVP continues its work with vulnerable groups in Syria
With the tragic consequences caused by the Hurricane Matthew which hit Haiti and other Caribbean nations (particularly, Dominican Republic and Cuba), the International General Council of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul is very much involved and is in touch with the people affected.
On 24 August, an earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale struck the centre of Italy, mainly affecting the town of Amatrice and the surrounding area.
