The Society has developed a knitting and sewing training project to provide professional training to young schools leavers that not only provides income to the young people, but also income to the Society itself.
In partnership with a company, a benefactor of the Society, young people will be trained in the manufacturing and sale of clothes. Students produce and sell the clothing, notably school uniforms for which there is a very strong demand. The total budget will cover the purchase of knitting and embroidery machines, sewing machines, industrial irons and other material.
The running costs, until self-sufficiency is obtained, are covered by a micro-credit programme set up a few years ago with SSVP in Ireland.
